PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE THE SOUTH IS!

*IF YOU DONATE MONEY ONLY ONCE THIS YEAR, PLEASE CONSIDER DOING IT HERE*

Dear Friends,

A Peoples' Global Action Asian and Gender conference is set to be held in
Dhaka, Bangladesh this April. The Krishok Federation of farmers, women,
indigenous and landless are convening this week-long conference of which
two days will be devoted to gender and the struggle against patriarchy.

The importance of Peoples' Global Action (PGA) in the global struggle
against capitalism and all forms of oppression cannot be understated.
Inspired by the Zapatistas and founded in 1998 by some of the strongest
grassroots movements on the planet, it is the network that gave birth to
"Global Days of Action". Wherever PGA meets, resistance flourishes. To
learn more about the history and current development of PGA check out
 http://www.agp.org .

The convenors of the upcoming PGA Asian and Gender conference have asked
each grassroots movement to send two delegates--at least one of which must be a woman. The Peasant Women's Association of Bangladesh (Kisani Sabha) has composed a list of women delegates from different grassroots movements in South and Southeast Asia, whose participation they want to ensure.
Who is able to participate will depend on how much money is raised or
committed before the conference. This is where WE come in!

PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE THE SOUTH IS!
Even though many of us in the struggle here in the global North-and in the third world within!--do not often have access to much money, one U.S.
dollar still goes a long way in the global South.for example:

*$150 will cover the overland travel costs of a delegate from India.
*$50 will cover the housing costs of a conference delegate in Dhaka.
*$35 will provide the food costs of a delegate for the whole week.

It might be overwhelming to know that $23,000 more needs to be raised in
order for every movement in Asia that wants to send delegates is
able to...but then you must remember that our grassroots fundraising is as global as our resistance! A mobilization throughout Europe is currently
taking place to raise money and we should match their efforts here. And
even though the Soros, Ford, and Rockefeller foundations don't fund PGA
meetings, there ARE some foundations that have already committed funds and some more that look like they will.

Remember that no donation is too small or too big! So take the time to
write a check, organize a fundraiser, circulate this appeal or your
own.Support the struggle to overcome capitalism and patriarchy in South
and Southeast Asia AND build the movements at home!

Everything for Everyone, Nothing for Ourselves!
