To better understand the principles behind consensus and feminist process here is a selection adapted from a report on process by Kristine Barr, originally taken from the book Peace and Power: A Handbook of Feminist Process by Charlene Eldridge Wheeler and Peggy L. Chin. Keep in mind that this is only one version of consensus decision-making, and that there are many versions of this process.

'incommunicado' is a weblog that focuses on the spread and reappropriation of ICT across the 'Global South'. The idea of being (held) incommunicado - to be in a liminal state vis-a-vis multiple regimes of information as well as human rights - serves as point of departure for analyses, critiques, and projects beyond the standard agenda of ICT-for-Development. Currently, 'incommunicado' emphasizes five (research) areas: ICT for Development, WSIS, NGOs and Civil Society, ICT and Environment, and Post-Development. In the spirit of a “research commons” and an open editorial process, you are welcome to comment and/or create your own weblog at

Samba Climatico Caravan !!
Where do crazy ideas come from?
A convoj of sambistas and friends leaving a rainy and summer cold
Belgrade. The departure of hundreds of inspired and inspiring PGA
connected people, diverging like a web of hope and satisfaction of having
shared the diverse experience of the 3rd European PGA Conference. Ritual
concerns about transporting masses of people, for the cause of creating a
different world with hopefully a little less threatened (and threatening)
climate.

Witness the Most Improbable Project of the Decade: ICC 99
Against all odds, a historic tour of a 'caravan' of over five hundred
people from the South has begun in Europe, armed with a striking message -

500 angry peasants on the road to the power centres of the world
Activists from India and Europe are preparing for a month long tour of Europe. Around 500 Indian peasants feel that is high time that their problems are made known in wealthy Europe. Multinationals, and the liberalising measures of the World Trade Organisation WTO in particular, constitue a huge threat to their current income, way of life and natural surroundings.

In January (1997) the IMF called on India to get rid of her remaining import restrictions and scale back her import tarifs which are among the highest in Asia. The WTO, speaking with the voice of India's main trading competitors, argued that these import controls were no longer needed as India's successful integration into the New Economic Order continues.

WTO forfeits right to set development goals
WALDEN BELLO , Bangkok post 30 July 2004
In the 10 months since the collapse of the World Trade Organisation ministerial meeting in Cancun in September last year, there have been warnings aplenty directed at the developing countries that if they did not cooperate, the multilateral trading system would be eroded beyond repair.

One year ago, Sinaltrainal (the Colombian Food and Drink Workers Union) called for a boycott of Coca Cola and all its products, in response to a brutal policy of terror and repression that Coca Cola had unleashed against their own workers in Colombia. Since 1994, 8 Coca-Cola workers and Sinaltrainal union leaders have been assassinated by paramilitaries, who the evidence suggests, were hired by Colombia's Coca-Cola management. Hundreds of other workers and union members have been imprisoned, tortured, threatened, disappeared or forced into exile.
