We're currently putting together the first in a series of publications called Turbulence: Ideas for movement. In the first issue, we want to take the slogan "We Are Winning" - famously sprayed on a wall in Seattle during the 1999 WTO protests - and ask, "What, actually, would it mean to win?". We plan to publish Turbulence to coincide with the counter-mobilisation against the G8 summit in Heiligendamm, Germany in June 2007.

Vielen mag der Unterschied zwischen Protest und Revolte marginal erscheinen und dennoch ist er nicht zu unterschätzen: in der Art der Protestformen (Unterschriftenlisten und Demonstrationen vs. Besetzungen, Regelverletzungen und Verweigerung), in ihren Zielsetzungen und – meist dadurch bedingt – auch in ihrer Wirksamkeit. Bezogen auf die aktuellen Widerstandsbewegungen gegen die Hartz-Gesetze und die Agenda 2010 liegt ihr momentan zu konstatierendes Scheitern m.E. in genau diesem Unterschied, den ich im Folgenden an einigen Beispiel aufzeigen möchte.

Not since the times that Marx identified the manufacturing plants of Manchester as the blueprint for the new capitalist society, has there been a deeper transformation taking place of the fundamentals of our social life. As the political, economic and social systems are transforming themselves into distributed networks, a new human dynamic is emerging: peer to peer. As P2P is giving rise to the emergence of a third mode of production (peer production), a third mode of governance (peer governance), and a third mode of property (peer property), it is poised to overhaul our political economy in unprecedented ways. This essay aims to develop the beginning of a conceptual framework, a 'P2P theory', adequate to the understanding of these new social processes. Such P2P Theory describes the contradictory relationships between the emerging Commons and the institutions and practices of capitalism, and places the new social dynamic in an intersubjective framework.

Este artículo trata de mostrar que en todo caso, la expresión trata de mostrar que hay otro mundo posible: el milagro no es sino una prueba de que el orden imperante no es el único posible. Abstract: The Bamako Appeal is an attempt to move the World Social Forum process from being some kind of agora for discussion of alternatives to neo-liberal globalisation, to providing an anti-capitalist leadership for the global justice and solidarity movement. Sponsored by prominent left activist intellectuals of the 'Thirdworldist' tradition, it has nonetheless adopted much of the language of the new movement. Because of its authors' apparent vanguardism, the BA has proven controversial within and around the leadership of the WSF. Such charters, declarations and manifestos are, however, common within the wider movement, occur within the WSF itself and should be welcomed. But the process by which the BA has appeared and been launched reproduces old movement practices that the new movement has been surpassing. The BA's chapter on labour suggests the possibility and necessity for a meaningfully global and open dialogue on the BA more generally. Whilst the BA is commonly seen as a deviation from or opposition to the WSF process, both of these instances reveal the simultaneous backward-looking and forward-looking nature of emancipatory movements.

La activación de convergencias en materia de desarrollo local limpio solidario e identitario, de instituciones, de dirigentes políticos y de ciudadanos es una alternativa a la exclusión de otro mundo posible por el estigma de la utopía. Esta nueva incidencia de globalización ciudadana hace posible lo que antes del impacto mexicano hubiera sido descartado como un sueño inalcanzable y que será realidad en la conmemoración ciudadana de la próxima conmemoración de la festividad de San Pantaleón que unirá, en el municipio de Campóo de En medio (Cantabria), productos límpios, solidarios e identitarios de comunidades y de ciudadanos del estado de Puebla (México). No se trata de un sueño sino de un reciclaje de las convergencias de los actores expuestos en materia de un desarrollo local limpio solidario e identitario.

"Die sozialen Zusammenhänge in einer als gemeinsam erlebten Bewegung wie in den Untergrundszenen der DDR oder in der autonomen Bewegung der 80er in der alten BRD gibt es nicht mehr. Verarmung, Zukunfts- und Existenzangst schlagen viel direkter auf die Einzelnen durch. Das hat nicht nur damit zu tun, dass einzelne sich viel stärker als früher um die individuelle Karriere kümmern. Es hat auch damit zu tun, dass Jobs seltener geworden sind und die Art dieser Jobs die Individualisierung fördert. Der Druck, sich zu behaupten, ist viel größer geworden. Die Konkurrenz untereinander schlägt bis in die politischen Gruppen durch. Die BRD-Linke ist in der sozialen Realität angekommen - aber wie verhält sie sich darin?..."
