International Consultation meeting 7-9 Oct.

Dear friends,

We are writing to you all to let you know that the PGA South-Asia met in
Haryana, India during the Via Campesina South-Asia regional meeting on the 1st of September.

The meeting was attended by Asian Convenor, All Nepal Peasant Association from Nepal, Nepal Agricultural Labour Association, Nepal National Fish Farmers Association, Nepal National Peasants Women's Association, South-Asian Convenor, BKU from India, Bangladesh Krishok Federation from Bangladesh, Bangladesh Kisani Sabha, Bangladesh Adivasi Samithy, MONLAR from Srilanka, KRRS from Karnataka, Tamilnadu Peasants Association, Kerala farmers Association, and the other 11 States of BKU in the North India, Andra Pradesh Vyavasaya Vruthidarula Union (APVVU).

The final decisions were:
* The International Consultation meeting will take place from 7th to 9th October-2005 in Haridwar, India
* There is a call for all the movements who want to attend this meeting.
But, we would like to make a special call for all the conveners.
* South- Asian movements (one person from each country) will cover their
travel cost themselves.
* Asian support group will also attend the meeting.
* If anybody wants to join the local struggle in order to understand the
movements better, here in the ICC, we welcome you, but please let us know in advance.

Indian Coordination Committee of Farmers Movements (ICC) is organizing a mass demonstration with more than 200,000 peasants and peasant women from all over India who will take direct democratic action against the Mumbai Port as an action against the Import Policy of Indian Government on the 2nd of October-05 which is the Birth Day of Mahatma Gandhi . It is going to be very confrontational with the police. International friends are definitely welcome, but remember that there is a great chance of getting arrested. That is the reason why the Consultation meeting is taking place from 7th to 9th October-2005 in Haridwar, India.
