Istanbul will host the next World Water Forum, which like Mexico in
March 2006 will pit thousands of the world's progressive activists against the for-profit
corporations and international financial agencies.

The water wars are still raging across the Third World, Europe, the US and even Canada.
Core sites of struggle between now and then include Brussels (European Parliament),
Geneva (the UN Human Rights Council treaty proposals from the Water Justice
Movement versus Gorbachev's Green Cross and the World Water Council), Paris (hq of
Suez and Veolia), Johannesburg (major court and street actions against pre-paid meters in South Africa),
Cochabamba and El Alto (public-public partnerships), anti-Coca Cola struggles in India, etc.

In many cities around the world, people are organising events and protests to defend public water, for instance in South Africa and El Salvador.
